U.S. Embassy in Rwanda Public Health Specialist (HIV Prevention) Jobs


  • Public Health Specialist (HIV Prevention) is the key public health advisor for the prevention program and reports directly to the Prevention Team Lead. The incumbent is responsible for the design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of a broad range of agency-funded prevention activities and studies funded by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
  • The incumbent provides technical assistance and capacity building to the Rwanda Ministry of Health (MOH) and other funded implementing partners on the planning, implementation and monitoring of prevention program activities. The incumbent provides guidance to implementing partner for the implementation of a combination of HIV prevention interventions to prevent new infections in general and vulnerable and key populations.
  • The incumbent participates in prevention issues at technical, policy and strategic planning meetings, including meetings with collaborators and donor agencies.

    Qualifications and Evaluations


  • Experience: Minimum three years progressively responsible work in HIV/AIDS or other public health program management including demonstrated experience

    in the design, planning and implementation, monitoring/evaluation of related public health programs is required.

    Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of a master degree in Public Health, Global Health, Social Work, Psychology and Sociology or Epidemiology is required. The incumbent should have practical and theoretical (specialized) training in areas of HIV prevention.


  • Language: Fluency (writing/speaking/reading) of English and Kinyarwanda is required. This may be tested.
