Role Summary

Based in Lusaka and reporting to the  Finance Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and developing the company credit control processes, managing and processing new account requests, reviewing customer credit terms, identify disputed or problematic customer accounts, taking legal action where appropriate to minimize credit risk and the impacts of bad debts, managing the team in maintaining and periodically review customer master data records and supporting management accounts weekly/monthly/annual reporting and analysis of A/R information.

The Group Credit Manager will be expected to perform any of the following tasks:

  • To oversee, motivate and manage a Credit Control team
  • Responsible for the collection of all outstanding monies working closely with the Regional Sales Managers, according to terms set by the company.
  • To ensure all query resolution is provided in a timely fashion and that there is a focus on aged debt with a view to reducing the DSO/ bad debt provision
  • To achieve the monthly cash collection targets set for the team
  • Responsible for minimizing any unallocated cash items.
  • Responsible for providing weekly consolidated reports to the Business detailing current levels of debt by customer or as requested
  • Manage the implementation of new customer accounts into the sales ledger
  • Implementing and/or maintaining credit controls
  • Lead in the provision calculations

  • Manage Third Party Collection Agency relationship
  • Ad Hoc reporting/Requests
  • Internal/External Audit Support
  • Month End Reporting/Tasks
  • Work closely with other O2C departments
  • Pro-actively review work processes for continuous improvements submitting suggestions to the O2C Global Process Community of Practice

The ideal Candidate should posses the following.

  • Demonstrable success in improving collections levels


  • Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Banking, Finance or relevant field
  • Member of ACCA, CIMA or ZICA
  • Proven experience of working as a Credit Manager, Credit Union or a similar role.
  • Solid understanding of lending procedures.
  • Excellent understanding of work control and leadership policies.
  • Excellent communication skills for negotiation and reconciliation.
  • Ability to create and process financial spreadsheets.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Pastel will be an added advantage
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Great interpersonal skills.
